In the end, the final legislation preserved the 100% deduction for floor plan financing for “motor vehicle” dealers. However, a change in how “motor vehicle” is defined has led to the current situation where dealers of towable RVs are capped at a 30 percent deduction of floor plan interest.

However, as part of the decision to explore a Version 2.0 concept of an RV industry week event, the association’s board of directors voted to not move forward with the currently scheduled RVX March dates in San Antonio next year or Salt Lake City in 2021.
“The key takeaway here is that RV consumers of all ages prefer to shop and buy their aftermarket parts and accessories in a store, with a sizeable segment preferring to shop where they purchased the RV,” said Senior Director of Research Bill Baker.
At the hearing, Ochs requested that the IRS use its regulatory authority to clarify whether RV trailers are included in the term “motor vehicle” for floor plan financing interest deductions.
“Seeing RVX and the vast array of member products really helped the policymakers see how the RV industry fits into the bigger outdoor recreation picture,” said Landers.
