After almost a century of crafting nearly identical, metallic, tear-drop trailers, Airstream has finally learned a new design language. The brand, one of 17 RV lines owned by Thor Industries Inc., ditched its silver-bullet style and created a fiberglass camping trailer in a bid to attract those who “love modern design.”
Any enthusiast, be it a cycling extremist, beer making master, knitting aficionado, cooking expert or fishing fanatic, can rattle off facts and spew information about their beloved pastime. They also can’t wait to consume the latest book, workshop, seminar or event that connects them with like-minded individuals who share their passion.
The EasyStart 364 is the electronic soft starter that enables RV users to start any RV rooftop air conditioning on low power sources like 2,000-watt generators, inverters and solar systems. The device can even start two air conditioning units on 30-amp shore power.
Airstream is participating in Jackson Center Municipal Power’s EcoSmart Choice program. The program allows participants to purchase renewable energy certificates from wind, hydroelectric, or landfill gas projects offered through American Municipal Power.

Airstream, Inc. is recalling certain 2019 Airstream Basecamp X recreational vehicles. The Federal Certification Label and Tire Placard may have incorrect information stating that the vehicle is equipped with 235/55R18 Load Range D tires needing 80 psi, when the vehicles are actually equipped with 235/75R15 Load Range D tires needing 51 psi.
“Recreational vehicles are the next frontier for connected vehicles, bringing with them a whole new audience. We’re pleased to continue our exclusive relationship to provide connectivity for the most iconic RV manufacturer,” said Penrose.

Now a San Francisco-based company called AutoCamp has raised $115 million to build a nationwide network of hotels fashioned from the trailers.
The Airstream Care app helps track maintenance, includes built-in checklists, keeps service records, and sends smart notifications. Additionally, Airstream Care integrates with Roadtrippers, a travel planning tool.
