Rhino-Back introduces compact bat-wing awning

SURRY HILLS, Australia — The Batwing awning from Rhino-Rack has been released in a compact version, the company announced today.

Rhino-Rack’s Batwing compact awning includes the same features of the original Batwing awning, but was redesigned to fit small- to medium-vehicles while giving users easy and reliable protection from the elements.

With 270 degrees of shade and 6.4-square-meters of coverage, the Batwing compact is made from ultra-durable, water and mold-resistant lightweight material that has been tested in the most extreme environments, the release noted.

It offers protection from the elements, such as maximum UPF 50+ sun protection. Rhino-Rack’s sun-safe awning range is endorsed by Cancer Council for offering maximum ultraviolet (UV) protection.

The Batwing Compact comes with fully-integrated lightweight aluminum black powder-coated legs that simply unclip from the storage position and drop into place, making installation a breeze. The legs also feature molded fittings to accommodate two pegs directly through the base to offer further stability in even gusty conditions.

The whole Batwing compact awning bundle is stored in a heavy-duty sleek black UV-resistant bag with an integrated pocket for the pegs and rope. That way users will be unlikely to leave home without them again, the release noted.

“Rapidly deployed by one person, the Batwing Compact offers fast and generous weather protection and shade, designed to take you from road trip pit stops to gutsy outback adventures and everything in between,” said spokesperson Genevieve Taylor.

The manufacturer’s suggested retail price is $649. It is available in both left (33300) and right (33400) mounts. The package includes:

  • Two multi-fit brackets
  • Mounting hardware
  • Ten pegs, with holding bag
  • Eight guide ropes, including four with hooks
  • Two spare hinge knuckles
