Podcast 196 explores Supplier and Vendor Exhibition

There is a big event coming up in Elkhart Sept. 24 to 27, that being the annual Elkhart Dealer Open House. It’s a giant blowout industry event during which almost every dealer in America attends so they can order RVs for the year ahead.

The manufacturers will set up just about every type of RV model that will be built in 2019 on display for dealers to walk through, evaluate and place orders. It is estimated that more than $2 billion in orders are written during that four-day period.

Well, this year’s event just got bigger. The guest this week is Randall Jeremiah, founder of the Supplier and Vendor Exhibition that will be held in conjunction with the open house event. Dozens of industry suppliers will exhibit their products under a big tent on three acres of property near the RV/MH Hall of Fame.

For much of the open house’s nine-year history, suppliers have been shut out of the event that is primarily responsible for shuttering the National RV Trade Show in Louisville, Ky. In the past, some suppliers have joined forces to produce a smaller exhibit across the street of the popular Forest River event, but space permitted only a few suppliers to participate.

Jeremiah explains his vision for the Supplier and Vender Exhibition and what companies can do to participate in this year’s open house.

Suppliers have complained for years that they rarely see manufacturing professionals like engineers, designers and buyers at the Louisville event. Hopefully that will change at this year’s open house as it should be easy and affordable for all manufacturing professionals to take a few hours to visit the local displays in Elkhart.

The Supplier and Vendor Exhibition will also give visiting dealers an opportunity to look for products to offer in their retail stores. It is a win-win-win for everyone.

Adding suppliers to the Elkhart Dealer Open House event makes it a truly all-encompassing industry event. The fact it takes place in Elkhart where most of the RVs are manufactured in North America, should make it very easy for many more people to participate.

The Open House is the only trade show event in the RV industry that is attended by nearly 100 percent of RV dealership owners and key managers. It will be nice to include suppliers in the excitement as it will truly benefit the manufacturers that launched and fuel the special event.

Booth space is still available for this year’s Supplier and Vendor Exhibition in Elkhart. For more information, visit www.rvshow.co.
