ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. — Celebrity Chef Charles Mattocks, Shire Regenerative Medicine and Heal2gether are hosting a one month Mobile RV Tour to raise awareness of diabetes complications. According to the American Diabetes Association, nearly 26 million people in the U.S. have diabetes, and as many as one in three adult Americans could have diabetes by 2050. What many people don’t know is that, if not managed properly, diabetes can result in serious health complications over time, such as high blood pressure, stroke, retinopathy and neuropathy. “The Diabetic You” Mobile RV Tour aims to increase awareness and educate the public about the management and treatment of diabetic complications.
Celebrity chef Charles Mattocks set off on a mission to help stop the ravages of the deadly disease after he was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and is now an avid advocate for diabetics. Also known as The Poor Chef, Mattocks is the author of Eat Cheap but Eat Well and has appeared on The Today Show, Good Morning America, The Martha Stewart Show, CNN and The Dr. Oz Show. Mattocks began creating ‘The Diabetic You,’ a documentary and movement focused on educating and inspiring people around the world as a personal mission to help educate the public about living healthier lives — starting with healthy eating. Mattocks states, “Together with Shire Regenerative Medicine, I hope to increase awareness not only about the management of diabetes, but stop the ravages of the deadly disease.”
“The Diabetic You” Mobile RV Tour will include a day-long event in each city with fun and interactive activities related to the management and treatment of diabetic complications, including cooking demonstrations by Mattocks. Leading diabetic experts will also be onsite to answer questions about potential warning signs for common problems such as high blood pressure, stroke, retinopathy and neuropathy. Additionally, “The Diabetic You” Mobile RV Tour will be offering visitors a free year-long subscription to Diabetic Living, one of the largest publications in diabetes health.
