ALBANY, Ore. — Three Oregon State Police (OSP) officers were presented with the department’s “Holly V. Holcomb Award” Saturday in recognition of their response during a deadly confrontation at Silver Spur RV Park in Silverton earlier this year, reports the Albany Tribune.
The award is presented to sworn employees who react to a situation in a heroic and professional manner to reduce the risk or loss of life or injury to citizens or another officer, writes the Albany Tribune.
On Feb. 25, several OSP troopers responded to assist Marion County Sheriff’s Office and Silverton Police Department regarding a report of an armed suspect at the RV park, says the Albany Tribune. A 78-year old male suspect was shooting at officers, keeping them from approaching.
