Man accidentally shoots himself at Calif. campground

CAPITOLA, Calif. — The Santa Cruz Sentinel reports that a 74-year-old Morgan Hill man was taken to a hospital Monday after he accidentally shot himself in the abdomen at a New Brighton State Beach campground.

State Parks Public Safety Superintendent Mike McMenamy said the man shot himself once with a .22-caliber revolver about 4:45 p.m.

McMenamy says the man faces potential gun charges as firearms are not allowed in any state parks.
