Henley’s Happy Trails: Final week working at a pumpkin lot

WASHINGTON — All workamping jobs must come to an end, including our time working at a pumpkin patch. The final ten days saw crowds swarming in after 5 PM on weekdays and all day on weekends, despite the rain and cold temperatures. Our biggest sellers were traditional orange pumpkins, carving kits, and bales of straw. We had a few bins of small ornamental pumpkins and gourds left. We had all of our pumpkin merchandise packed up, pallets stacked up, and even Christmas tree stands laid out before the sun went down. All extra inventory was collected

We continued to have customers stop by the lot a few days into November wanting to know if we had anything left to sell. All of the bargain shoppers come out Halloween day and after. They were sad to see that we were all out of inventory. We were surprised to see people still coming!
