GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Even though the traditional camping season is months away, the Michigan Association of RV Parks & Campgrounds offers this list of gift ideas for the camper on your holiday list.

  • A hammock, outdoor fire pit, patio heater, camp stove or one of dozens of other items.
  • A hand-painted campsite sign.
  • Nordic walking poles.
  • A GPS Unit…whether hiking or biking or geocaching, a hand-held GPS (global-positioning-system) is a hot item for any outdoor enthusiast.
  • “RV,” the movie, starring Michigan’s own Jeff Daniels.
  • “Michigan – Off The Beaten Path,” by Jim Dufresne, “Backroads of Michigan: Your Guide to Michigan’s Most Scenic Backroad Adventures,” by Robert W. Domm or “Scenic Driving Michigan,” by Kathy-Jo Wargin.
  • “Totally Camping Cookbook,” by Helene Siegel, “Campground Cookery,” by Brenda Kulibert or “Camp Cooking: 100 Years by National Museum Of Forest Service History.”
