MANCHESTER, England — The delivery of a luxury motorhome had our children buzzing with delight as they went to explore their 24ft long ‘den’.
Harry, six, and Lottie, nearly four, excitedly christened it their ‘home on wheels’, but my heart was thumping for a different reason: How was I going to manoeuvre this leviathan?
The biggest thing I’d driven was our Mazda Bongo, which is narrower than many cars and certainly not very long at around 15ft.
I felt like a novice bus driver as I edged the 8ft wide Bailey motorhome through our West Yorkshire village, eyes flitting from one wing mirror to the other at every bend and roundabout.
