This week’s guests are Jeff Braun, the chief financial officer at Meyer Distributing, and Bruce Terwiske, the director of purchasing. The company was featured on Podcast 74 shortly after it announced its official entry into the RV market.
Since then, a lot has changed at Meyer. The firm has grown considerably along with the number of vendor partners and the RV lines the company carries.
The gentlemen explain why Meyer enjoys a competitive advantage in that the firm controls its own fleet of delivery vehicles. The firm uses commercial carriers, like UPS, upon occasion, but most of the products are delivered by Meyer drivers. That gives dealers considerable flexibility in ordering products for next day delivery.
Meyer Distributing does things a little differently than some of the other major distributors, but as a family-owned business, the staff really understands smaller, independent businesses.
Braun and Terwiske explain how not being associated with a private equity firm really gives Meyer Distributing better ability to make fast decisions and serve the market.
They also describe the services Meyer offers to RV dealers, suppliers and RV manufacturers.
