PITTSBURGH — The 2019 Pittsburgh RV Show today concluded its nine-day run at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center and announced that it attracted the largest one-day crowd in the show’s 52-years history.

The record occurred despite an extremely rocky start during an opening weekend that included a severe winter storm warning and various transportation shutdowns in anticipation of the storm.

“The 2019 RV Show was memorable for a number of reasons,” said Show Producer Rob Young. “The show opened amid weather forecasts of a major winter storm approaching, which caused the governor to declare a state of emergency in Pennsylvania, resulting in a commercial vehicle ban on interstates, other transportation shutdowns and a suggestion that drivers stay off the roads if possible.

“While the major storm didn’t hit Pittsburgh as forecast, show attendance during that first weekend was down by about 30 percent,” he added. “Monday offered expanded weekday hours for the Martin Luther King holiday, and attendance rebounded nicely. Attendance remained steady throughout the next four evenings, and sales were back on track with the previous year.”

Attendance the second weekend skyrocketed, with Saturday, January 26, attracting the largest one-day crowd in the Pittsburgh RV Show’s 52-years history. Overall, this year’s nine-day engagement attracted the second largest crowd since the show launched in 1968.

“The show was also memorable for the tremendous crowds it attracted throughout the second weekend,” said Young. “The 2019 show closed with record numbers and brisk sales. The 16 dealers and 100-plus booth exhibitors were pleased with both attendance and sales, and a parts and accessory store on site saw a 12 percent sales increase. The outlook for the rest of the year looks bright.”

The Original Pittsburgh RV Show will return to the David L Lawrence Center in January.
