INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — RVIA honored Mark Bowersox, executive director of the Recreation Vehicle Indiana Council and Indiana Manufactured Housing Association, with the National Legislative Award on March 10 during the association’s Annual Meeting in Sarasota, Fla. The award recognizes those who have distinguished themselves in legislative matters pertaining to the RV industry.
Bowersox was recognized for his key leadership on the recent HUD issue concerning how park model RVs dimensions are measured. As head of the Indiana association that represents both RVs and manufactured housing, Mark’s support of RVIA’s position on the issue was crucial. He worked to convince Indiana’s congressional delegation to introduce a bill addressing the issue and lobbied his colleagues at other state manufactured housing associations to support the legislation and lend assistance.
In addition, Mark was also instrumental in the industry’s efforts to address the RV transport driver shortage last year. Working with RVIA, he introduced a bill in the Indiana legislature that will benefit the RV industry and RV transport companies by removing the chauffer’s licenses needed to transport select vehicles.
“Mark’s leadership and efforts helped RVIA achieve legislative success on two very important issues facing the RV industry,” said Bontrager. “He was an influential advocate for the industry at the federal and state level and was a key ambassador for us with other key stakeholders.”
