“The reality is Cummins products are all around us,” said Jennifer Rumsey, the Fortune 500 company’s chief technical officer. “We didn’t invent the diesel engine, but we are the one that took the technology and disrupted gasoline engines.”
Cummins has spent the past century innovating new technologies and working to better the planet by reducing its emissions and environmental impact — often standing alone in the industry. Now it is turning its attention to electric engines for trucks.
“With the company’s move to electric technology, if anyone needed a sign that they are a forward-thinking company, that’s it,” said Janet McCabe, a former clean air official at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency who often worked with Cummins. “In every industry you have the leaders, those pushing forward and on the advanced edge of their industry,” she added. “I would put Cummins there.”
