CASTLE ROCK, Wash. — Airstream Adventures Northwest has provided funds to help outfit new loaner RVs for use by Tents for Troops, a non-profit organization that helps provide recreation opportunities to active-duty military members.
Tents for Troops is making 10 new 30-foot travel trailers available to host RV parks and campgrounds in Kentucky, Tennessee and West Virginia where they will be loaned out to military families for free. More locations are planned.
“When we receive these trailers, we stock them up with everything a camping family might need which gets pretty expensive,” said founder Charlie Curry.
Ted Davis, at Airstream Adventures Northwest, has provided funding to outfit three of these trailers with full hook up packages.
Curry said he is hopeful he can raise enough money to outfit seven more of trailers.
For a $350 donation, a company can sponsor a trailer with all the basics including dishes, pots, pans, bakeware, mixing bowls, silverware, toaster, camp-style coffee percolator with mugs, utensils, corkscrew, mop, broom and cleaning supplies as well as RV water and sewer hoses.
For an additional $350, companies can sponsor full hook up packages that include three adult and three children’s camp chairs, a cooler, electric pancake griddle, Micky Mouse waffle iron, board games, card games and some family DVDs.
“So for just $350, you can fully outfit one RV or, for $700, your company provides a full hook up of great supplies and games,” said Curry.
Donations of any size and in kind donations are always needed and welcome, he added.
