Thousand Trails kicks off its annual #100DaysOfCamping promotion Memorial Day weekend, as the summer-long, 100-day challenge has become a staple for campers across the country. Each guest of Thousand Trails campgrounds will receive one of the more than 30,000 #100DaysOfCamping rally towels being distributed during both Memorial Day and Independence Day holiday weekends.
The campground at Echo State Park is completely full for this upcoming Memorial Day weekend. It was designated a state park last year and with that comes new projects and amenities.
High water from Wappapello Lake has forced the closure of the Greenville Campground and Day Use Area ahead of the Memorial Day holiday weekend.
Campers at Jellystone Park of Estes Park now have access to 13 more campsites with full hookups, plus a brand new snack shack. “We’ve been working hard to get everything ready,” said Rick Spear, who owns and operates the campground with his wife, Shelly. “Business is looking great. The Chinook and Cayuse passes through Mount Rainier National Park will reopen for the season by 8 a.m. May 23, in time for Memorial Day weekend, according to the state Department of Transportation.
“Generators make a lot of noise,” said Schweizer. “It’s nice to have it quiet. When you have electricity you don’t have those generators. It’s just really enjoyable to be at a campground with electricity.”
If hoping to find a campsite in the park, Richards advises, “Our first come, first serve campgrounds have not yet opened for the season. There are plenty of camping and lodging options outside of Yosemite, but all campgrounds inside the park are sold out for the weekend.”

Colorado hikers, campers and outdoors enthusiasts have no shortage of campgrounds, hiking trails and open spaces to explore and enjoy, but sometimes a lack of photos and reviews of these spaces can leave more to be desired.
All public access parks at Arcadia Lake are closed due to flooding from recent heavy rainfall and the ensuing runoff, officials with the city of Edmond announced Tuesday.
Campgrounds currently open include Leigh Creek, Ranger Creek Recreation Area, Shell Creek, North Tongue and Boulder Park. If weather permits, Middle Fork, South Fork, Hettinger, Tie Hack and Owen Creek campgrounds are expected to open for Memorial Day weekend.
“Some of our longstanding directors have now eased their loads. A healthier association is one where more members from across the state are active, and people can rotate onto and off of the Board. SDCOA is showing significant signs of moving forward,” said Arlington.
The Baker-Polito Administration today announced that Wellfleet Hollow State Campground (formerly Paine’s Campground) in the Town of Wellfleet will commence its first camping season under the management of the Department of Conservation and Recreation.
