MI: Reservations required at all Sleeping Bear campsites

Most of the sites at Platte River Campground already took reservations, but D.H. Day Campground was entirely first-come first-serve, leading to long lines overnight as people waited to nab a site. The National Park Service says the change to reservations will fix those long lines.

S.D.: State park closes two sites

The South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks reports that a portion of Lake Vermillion Recreation Area near Canistota is closed due to flooding. This closure affects the park’s East Unit, which includes the east campground and east boat ramp as well as access points on the south and east sides of Lake Vermillion.
