ST. PAUL, Minn. — Hospitality Minnesota announced today that Ben Wogsland has joined the organization as director of government relations.
Wogsland comes to Hospitality Minnesota following service as the director of legislative relations and communications for Minnesota’s Office of the Attorney General.
He is charged with expanding Hospitality Minnesota’s government relations and grassroots advocacy program, and will report to President and CEO Liz Rammer.
“Having a robust advocacy program is an important aspect of how Hospitality Minnesota serves its restaurant, lodging, and resort and campground member organizations,” said Rammer. “Ben is well positioned to help us continue to be a thought leader on a wide range of policy and regulatory issues that impact Minnesota’s $9 billion hospitality industry.”
In his role with the attorney general’s Office, Wogsland lobbied on hundreds of bills related to industry regulation, shepherding more than 30 laws into enactment and blocking or amending numerous other proposals.
Through his development and management of effective relationships at the legislature, as well as with local governments and community organizations – Wogsland has demonstrated a track record of successful advocacy that will readily translate in his service to Hospitality Minnesota and its members, the release noted.
“No matter where you live in the state, the hospitality industry represents the very best that Minnesota has to offer. These businesses are vital to our economy and our Minnesota way of life,” stated Wogsland. “I could not be more excited to be joining this talented team of leaders, entrepreneurs and Minnesotans.”
Wogsland’s took over his new responsibilities Monday.
