From The Roanoke Times:

ROCKY MOUNT, Va. — A proposed campground and RV park in Union Hall gained the support of the Franklin County Planning Commission for a second time Tuesday.

South Lake Motor Sports sought a special-use permit to build Camp Reel Simple in the Smith Mountain Lake area. The application called for a facility with 28 RV sites and 14 cabins on 14.25 acres on Old Salem School Road.

Deborah Crawford, who represents the Union Hall District, responded to and refuted several of the criticisms lobbed by neighbors. “The lake was built for everyone; it was not built for people that just can afford land on the lake,” she said. “And there’s nowhere on that side of the lake that people can come to.”
