VA: Board approves permit for controversial campground

ROANOKE, Va. — The board of supervisors authorized a special-use permit for a controversial campground and RV park in Union Hall.

The board voted 5-1 with one abstention to approve the permit. Camicia voted no and Carter abstained from the vote because some of the applicants were friends and longtime customers of his business.

South Lake Motor Sports LLC sought to build Camp Reel Simple, envisioned as an attraction for vacationers that would include 28 RV sites and 14 cabins on 14.25 acres on Old Salem School Road.
