TX: Big Bend National Park announces temporary closures

BIG BEND, Tex. — Big Bend National Park has announced some temporary closures to start in February for Peregrine Falcons.

According to a release, some parts of the Chisos Mountains will be closed starting February 1 to protect nesting falcons.

While the Peregrine falcon is no longer on the federal endangered species list there are less than a dozen known nesting pairs in the state, keeping the falcon on Texas’ endangered species list the National Park Service states.
