TN: Campground openings in Smokies affected by shutdown

GATLINBURG, Tenn. — The government shutdown has affected the opening dates of some facilities in the Great Smoky Mountains National park.

Due to the partial government shutdown this winter, delays in the spring opening of campgrounds, picnic pavilions, and cabins are anticipated, the Park Service said. There is a reduced timeline for seasonal staff hiring and planning that has shifted opening dates at some facilities.
