Shutdown having little impact on Flagstaff hotels, campgrounds

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — The Arizona Daily Sun writes that Grand Canyon National Park has been closed for a week, but most Flagstaff hotels and campgrounds have yet to feel the effects.

Business at Kit Carson RV Park in Flagstaff is starting to wind down for the season, but office manager Marlene Sidoti said the Grand Canyon closures have had no impact on their business.

The Arizona Daily Sun reports that the Flagstaff KOA Campground was 80 percent full last weekend, according to Mike Hanson of the office staff. The campground traditionally closes half of the park at the end of September.

“We kept it open (this year) to accommodate the influx of traffic from the Grand Canyon,” Hanson said.
