COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The 50th anniversary celebration of the Colorado Campground & Lodging Owners Association (CCLOA) takes place March 5 to 7 at Colorado Springs KOA.
Registered campground owners, managers and others who want to enter into the industry will join CCLOA staff and industry supplier members for networking, learning, business discussions and fun, said Mary Arlington, executive director.
Workshops and a casual social are set for March 5. The morning of March 6 starts with a brief business meeting and proceeds immediately into industry and campground-related presentations.
“Of utmost request is one on the struggle of employment practices. We’re honored to have Nathan Whitney, of Sherman & Howard in Colorado Springs, to explain those employment issues and practices,” said Arlington.
As attendees approach information overload, the group will kick back for a gala event featuring food, beverages, fun and an auction.
“After all, a celebration certainly is in order considering it has been 50 years since our founders first saw the value of meeting, sharing and friendship,” said Arlington.
March 7, the focus will be on a wide variety of campground operations and management topics.
Throughout the three-day event, aside from employment practices attendees, participants will likely hear about these topics:
- Pricing considerations for goods and services.
- What’s conveyed through photographs.
- Discrimination in the workplace and in customer service.
- Whether online reservations are right for a campground.
- Liability in ways that are sometimes unexpected.
- Enhancing the shoulder seasons,.
- Landlord vs innkeeper considerations.
- Check-in and check-out practices.
- Cancellation policies.
The early bird rates continue through Feb. 23, at which time the fees increase. Registration information is available at www.coloradocloa.wordpress.com/ccloa-annual-conference.
