OH: Friendly Fire Lake been drawing families for decades

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio — Driving on U.S. 6 near Rudolph Road in the summer time, it’s easy to be distracted by the hub of activity to the south: fishing, swimming, walking, roasting marshmallows.

That would be Fire Lake Camper Park located on Kramer Road. For the last 20 years, the private camper area has been owned by Jennifer and Martin Gladieux. They are the fifth owners of the man-made lake that was formed while building the nearby overpass for Route 6 over Ohio 25.

When they were digging out the dirt to make the overpass they found three natural springs in the former farmer’s field that keep the lake at the site clean and fresh. That was around 1968-69, and a camper park was created.
