N.M.: South Fork Campground may reopen earlier

RUIDOSO, N.M. — Officials with the Smokey Bear Ranger District of the Lincoln National Forest are cautiously optimistic that South Fork Campground, damaged by the Little Bear Fire and its aftermath in 2012, will reopen earlier than projected.

And discussions are underway on the possibility of other entities becoming more involved with recreation around Bonito Lake, which is owned by the city of Alamogordo in Otero County, although it lies within Lincoln County.
