N.C.: DuPont Forest receives another land donation

BREVARD, N.C. — The Conservation Fund, an environmental non-profit, has conveyed 778.5 acres owned by the Pickelsimer estate to the state, with the property becoming part of DuPont State Recreational Forest, likely in 2020, according to officials.

The donation does not include Cascade Lake or the campground, which has been closed since late 2015. The campground remains part of the Pickelsimer estate.

“It finally happened,” said Bill Holman, with the North Carolina branch of the Conservation Fund, about the conveyance. “This is about half of the property.”
