Montana looks to create statewide recreation plan

GREAT FALLS, Mont. — Montana State Parks is working to create a statewide recreation plan for 2014 through 2018, the Great Falls Tribune reported today.

“Creating a Vibrant Future for Montana’s Outdoor Recreation Heritage,” will provide a road map for recreation in Montana, state officials said in advance of a public meeting seeking comments Wednesday evening.

Findings show that recreation is increasing but outdoor recreation managers and entities are struggling to accommodate the increased demand due to decreasing budgets, increasing maintenance costs and lack of coordination between federal, state and local governments, the Great Falls Tribune reported.
