ME: Chewonki Campground agrees to remove trees

WISCASSET, Maine — Wiscasset, the Federal Aviation Administration, and Chewonki Campground are nearing a settlement that would pay the campground $280,000 for an avigation agreement to remove numerous trees.

The campground is expected to receive $280,000 in exchange for the easement, under a proposed deal selectmen are set to consider tonight.

Ninety percent of the funds will be paid by the FAA, five percent by the Maine Department of Transportation, and five percent, or $14,000, by the town, according to documents the town released Tuesday.
