LA: Rezoning request for RV spaces shot down by 10-2 vote

LAKE CHARLES, La. — With a 10-2 vote Thursday, Calcasieu Parish police jurors denied a request to rezone nearly 1.5 acres of property east of Lake Charles to allow 29 recreational vehicle spaces.

The panel denied the request by HPS Enterprises to rezone the property at 1279 La. 397 from general commercial to RV park after hearing opposition from several nearby residents. The decision echoed a 5-4 vote Tuesday by the parish Planning and Zoning Board to deny the request.
