Jellystone Parks gear up for spring

UNITED STATES –Easter egg hunts are great fun at family get-togethers.

Now imagine how much fun it would be to have Easter egg hunts as well as Easter egg coloring contests and spring crafts in a campground setting with Yogi Bear!

That’s exactly what awaits families at many Jellystone Park Camp-Resorts across the country on Easter weekend.

“Some of our parks even have visits by the Easter Bunny!” said Michele Wisher, vice president of marketing for Milford, Ohio-based Leisure Systems, Inc., which franchises more than 80 Jellystone Parks across the U.S. and Canada.

While most Jellystone Parks have Easter egg hunts and craft activities, specific activities vary by location. Here’s a sampling of the activities being planned at various Jellystone Park locations:

— Asheboro, N.C.: Activities at this park include egg decorating, an egg hunt, a Yogi Bear Easter movie in the outdoor theater and a dance party Saturday night.

— Canyon Lake, Texas: This park will offer Easter egg hunts, spring crafts, a campsite decorating contest and an all you can eat pancake breakfast on Sunday morning.

— Horn Lake, Miss.: Activities at this park include Easter egg basket decorating, ceramics painting, egg painting, an egg dying contest, Easter artwork, Easter egg hunts by age group and candy bar bingo.

— Lodi, Calif.: Families that visit this park on Easter weekend will be able to meet the Easter Bunny, paint eggs, join in an Easter egg hunt, plant flowers in Cindy Bear’s garden and celebrate spring.

— Mill Run, Penn.: This park will have egg coloring; a “Magical Easter Basket Ride;” cookie decorating; a jellybean guessing contest and a wagon ride with the Easter Bunny.

— Nashville, Tenn.: Activities at this park include crafts, games and activities with the Easter Bunny and an Easter egg hunt.

— Tyler, Texas: Activities at this park will include a noon Easter egg hunt as well as an evening Easter egg hunt adventure with Yogi Bear. There will also be a family movie in the outdoor theater.

Some Jellystone Parks in the northern U.S. and Canada also celebrate Easter activities later in the year, including:

— Borden-Carleton, P.E.I.: This park will celebrate Easter beginning June 21 with Easter egg hunts, crafts and games.

— Toronto, Ont.: This park will celebrate Easter July 28 – 30 with egg hunts, bunny bingo and a bunny dance on Saturday night.
