Houston RV resort wins ‘Accommodations of the Year’

KATY, Texas — Katy Lake RV Resort, one of the newest RV resorts in the Houston area, has won the “Accommodations of the Year Award” from the Texas Association of Campground Owners (TACO).

“Our General Manager, Joy Stogsdill and I were thrilled to receive this recognition at the annual TACO meeting,” said Cathy Ross, property manager of the 209-site resort, which opened in November of 2014.

“Cabins and cottages are the fastest growing segment in campgrounds across Texas,” said Brian Schaeffer, TACO’s executive director and CEO. “We are very proud of Katy Lake RV Resort and the quality experience they offer their guests.”

The Houston area park has five fully furnished Forest River park model RV rentals, including three Sandpipers, one Surveyor and one Open Range model for nightly, weekly or monthly rental.

Ross said demand for the rental units is high throughout the year, adding that people like to come out to the resort to enjoy Katy Lake and the many onsite activities at the park.

“We are conveniently located within 10 minutes of a wide variety of restaurants, shopping and medical services, but the hustle and bustle of Houston traffic disappears as you drive down our driveway to an oasis of the serene, tranquil lake life,” she said.

“We’re nestled in the heart of West Houston on 18 acres of land surrounding a six-acre lake and we have a 105-foot lighted fishing pier and have stocked the lake with catfish, largemouth bass, red-ear and perch,” she said.

The resort also has a heated beach entry swimming pool and spa, a dog run with a dog wash station and an activity center with two large screen TVs, vending machines, free ice and a pool table. The park also has a half-mile-long sidewalk around the lake for walking and jogging, an exercise room, a computer room, gas fire pit and gas barbecue grills as well as shower and laundry facilities. The park sells propane and offers complimentary propane tank pickup and drop-off service. Free WiFi and cable TV service are also provided.

“Business is looking really good this year,” Ross said.

Katy Lake RV Resort is a 10.10.10 rated Good Sam park and is a sister park of Houston East RV Resort, which is Good Sam rated at 10.9.10. Our newest acquired sister park in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, Texan RV Ranch, is Good Sam rated 9.10.9 and a new park is scheduled to open next year in Garland on Lake Ray Hubbard. All parks fall under the umbrella of Via Bayou, Inc.

Katy Lake RV Resort received the Accommodations of the Year Award last week during the Texas Association of Campground Owners’ annual Spring Meeting.
