Heavy rains renew flooding concerns at Fla. park

BROOKSVILLE, Fla. — Tampabay.com reports that on Tuesday morning, Norm States, who manages Camper’s Holiday Travel Park in Brooksville, watched as a steady stream of water rushed toward nearby Sparkman Lake.

The same scenario played out, only worse, in August, says Tampabay.com. A heavy torrent dumped nearly seven inches of rain at the campground and caused the 14-acre lake to swell over its banks. As a result, more than three dozen RVs were underwater.

So once again, States is wondering whether the worst is yet to come.

“When we get this much rain, there’s just no place for it to go,” he said. “We’ve just learned to deal with it the best we can.”
