Listen to this story

WESTERLY, Conn. — Ideas on how to improve state parks and facilities such as Misquamicut State Beach and Charlestown’s East Beach and Burlingame State Campgrounds will be sought during a meeting hosted by the state Department of Environmental Management scheduled for Wednesday from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in Council Chambers at Town Hall.

The meeting and three others like it to be scheduled in other parts of the state are part of DEM’s parks initiative, which looks to add $1.5 million in the state budget for improvements to parks maintenance and creating a new business development office for the department’s Parks and Recreation Division.
