Conn.: Renewed campaign to protect state park lands

CONNECTICUT — A broad coalition of environmental groups worried about Connecticut’s state park lands being sold or given away are renewing their push to get proposed state constitutional protections on the 2018 ballot, Hartford Courant reported.

The proposal would provide additional safeguards around the sale or disposal of state park and open space lands, including requiring public hearings and two-thirds votes in the state House and Senate.

The amendment was approved by the General Assembly last year, but not by a big enough majority in the House to send it directly to voters for consideration as a ballot question.
