AL: Mobile County could get new park on river

MOBILE, Ala. — A private campground on the Mississippi line may soon become a county-owned site with potential to join Chickasabogue Park as a crown jewel of the county’s recreational and environmental assets.

At its discussion meeting on Thursday, the Mobile County Commission considered a measure to spend $715,000 to buy 45 acres of land in the Wilmer area northwest of Mobile. “I just want to say I’m very excited about this purchase,” said Commission President Connie Hudson, explaining that the land involved is the privately owned Escatawpa Hollow Campground.
