Winegard unveils automatic antenna at RVIA
Winegard's Rayzar Automatic

Louisville, Ky. — Winegard unveiled the newest addition to its product lineup at the RVIA National RV Trade Show, the Rayzar Automatic. A solution to the manual antennas commonly available, the Rayzar Automatic is an automatic HD TV antenna that scans for all available local broadcast channels in the area.

“These type of antennas have always been manual,” Keith Larson, consumer products sales manager told RV Daily Report. “Dishes have been automatic forever. But this is the first fully automatic antenna. We wanted to create something in the off-air market similar to dishes.”

The antenna’s external hardware searches for live, local signals, while an LED wall plate inside the RV illuminates all locations where TV signals are available. The antenna positions itself automatically to ensure the maximum channel availability.

“It really is a ‘smart’ antenna,” said Larson. “It doesn’t point where the strongest signal is. It positions itself optimally so it’s in the best place to get the most channels.”

The Rayzar Automatic became available to manufacturers just a few weeks ago. Erik Guldager, RV OEM sales manager, said several manufacturers have already made the conversion with several more on the way. Guldager said the antenna will be available for purchase to the aftermarket within a week.

Larson said the design of the antenna makes it worry free for RVers who worry about forgetting to lower the antenna. A dome protects the technology and hardware from shock, vibration and weather. It has a low-profile design at only 7 inches high, and weighs 4.5 pounds. The antenna is easily installed with a coax hook-up. Larson said the antenna is easy to retrofit to an existing RV.

“The ease of use for the customer is unbelievable,” said Guldager. “All of the OEMs who have picked it up are giving rave reviews. The performance of this antenna is phenomenal.”
