Urban Air event off, but officials said it will continue

(April 27, 2016) -- Just one day after the founder of "Urban Air" announced the unique urban camping event is off, Eaton Rapids, Mich., city officials are determined to line downtown streets with Airstream travel trailers for a fifth consecutive year.

EATON RAPIDS, Mich. — Just one day after the founder of “Urban Air” announced the unique urban camping event is off, city officials are determined to line downtown streets with Airstream travel trailers for a fifth consecutive year.

Eaton Rapids City Manager Jon Stoppels said Tuesday the event, which brought nearly 100 of the iconic silver trailers to downtown last year, will happen this fall.

The news comes less than 24 hours after event founder Kirk MacKellar, of Dimondale, posted a message on the event’s Facebook group page, “Urban Air Wake Up Downtown,” Monday announcing this year’s event was cancelled.
