Remember when Evel Knievel visited Forest River?

ELKHART, Ind. — Angelle Barbazon writes that while sifting through file cabinets in The Elkhart Truth’s old newsroom on Friday, she found a folder marked “Forest River,” and inside was a press release about daredevil Evel Knievel.

Here’s an excerpt from the release:

“Evel Knievel visited Forest River Inc. Thursday, March 20, 2001, to pick up his new 30-foot Continental Cargo Victory Lane Auto Hauler. Still able to draw a crowd, the legendary motorcycle showman met and autographed everything from photo albums to welding helmets for the employees who built his new trailer at the plant located in Elkhart.”

If you have photos or signed memorabilia from that day, Angelle Barbazon would like to hear from you.
