Ore. forest authorizing personal-use firewood cutting

(Oct. 25, 2013) -- The Fremont-Winema National Forest is authorizing personal-use firewood cutting and gathering at Cottonwood Campground until the firewood is gone or inaccessible due to snow, writes Herald and News.

LAKEVIEW, Ore. — The Fremont-Winema National Forest is authorizing personal-use firewood cutting and gathering at Cottonwood Campground until the firewood is gone or inaccessible due to snow, writes Herald and News.

According to a press release, only the cutting or removal of downed logs and trees, which includes the bucking and gathering of firewood, will be permitted at the campground, says Herald and News.

Any cutting of standing trees is prohibited.

Individuals must possess a valid personal-use firewood permit.
