(Nov. 11, 2013) -- The Volkswagen campervan has been disappearing for quite some times, writes the Winston-Salem Journal. But Matt Eastman, a senior at Elon University, says as long as he and like-minded aficionados have a say, their beloved “bus” will endure.

ELON, N.C. — The Volkswagen campervan has been disappearing for quite some times, writes the Winston-Salem Journal. But Matt Eastman, a senior at Elon University, says as long as he and like-minded aficionados have a say, their beloved “bus” will endure.

Eastman’s VW is a 1977 Westfalia edition with a stove, refrigerator, and pop-up camper top. He bought the van when he was just 16.

Once he graduates, Eastman plans to return to Florida to work and save money. Sometime next summer he and his camper are off on a cross-country jaunt, with California their ultimate destination, writes the Winston-Salem Journal.
