N.C.: New tool helps hikers plan adventures

(April 19, 2017) -- The A.T.CAMP website allows groups of six to 10 hikers to find and register for campsites along the Appalachian Trail. It's designed to help groups plan their hikes while avoiding overcrowding.

HARPERS FERRY, W.V. — The Appalachian Trail Conservancy has launched a new tool for hikers.

The A.T.CAMP website allows groups of six to 10 hikers to find and register for campsites along the Appalachian Trail. It’s designed to help groups plan their hikes while avoiding overcrowding.

The system is not meant to reserve a spot for a group, but hikers will be able to see how many other campers are in a location.
