MI: Tiny Airstream aimed at adventurers

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The DeVos Place Convention Center will be filled with hundreds of motor homes, campers and trailers over the next four days at the Grand Rapids Camper, Travel & RV Show.

One of the hottest stops may be the Basecamp 16, a tiny silver Airstream trailer parked in the Grand Gallery. Just 16-feet long and weighing less than 3,000 pounds, the solar-powered unit includes a small kitchen, a heater, a toilet and shower and sleeping space for two.

Chad Carlson, sales manager for Woodland Travel Center, said he’s already sold six of the new models, which sell for just under $40,000.
