LAFAYETTE, La. — Have you ever had a moment where you realize something is bigger than just you? It’s like when you get a few years past 17 and understand why people told you life was about more than high school.

I got that feeling during spring break as we visited three state parks in five days. Maybe it was that it was the first of our many state park trips to include several other people.

My husband, two girls and I started our mission to see all 21 Louisiana state parks in November. I saw it as something I could do for work while also having fun with my family and traveling.
