(Feb. 13, 2018) -- According to a 2016 article published by the American Enterprise Institute, the size of the average American home in 1973 was 1,660 square feet. By 2015, it had jumped to 2,687 square feet and the average living space per person had nearly doubled.

After the housing crash of 2008 before which many people bought more home than they could really afford, the tiny house movement is gaining momentum.
