Henley’s Happy Trails: Working at a pumpkin lot

WASHINGTON — This week’s pumpkin patch theme is Feeling Hot, Hot, Hot! The temperatures have been in the 90s and humid but that hasn’t stopped the customers from clamoring at the counter to buy their pumpkins for the season! Between checking out customers, helping load hay in the back of trucks, throwing away rotting pumpkins, giving train rides to the kiddos, and general lot maintenance, there is little time to just sit and take a breather.

With all our success, we have run into a few snags with our train going kaput and finding out that there is such a thing as water logging a mum. It’s typically slow in the mornings so a few times during the week one of us will run an errand or two…taking care of a load or two at the laundromat down the road, replenishing groceries, or grabbing a bite to eat at one of the many restaurants nearby.
