Fire destroys camper in Sandy River Plantation, Maine

(June 16, 2016) -- A fire that destroyed a 32-foot camper-trailer on Wednesday was most likely caused by an electrical malfunction behind a refrigerator that was plugged in, Rangeley Fire Chief Tim Pellerin said Thursday.

SANDY RIVER PLANTATION, Maine — A fire that destroyed a 32-foot camper-trailer on Wednesday was most likely caused by an electrical malfunction behind a refrigerator that was plugged in, Rangeley Fire Chief Tim Pellerin said Thursday.

The owner, William Keirstead, used a garden hose to keep the fire in check until firefighters arrived about 12 minutes after the 2:47 p.m. call.
