WASHINGTON, D.C. — So you’re a patriotic American or an international admirer of the United States and you’ve always wanted to visit the nation’s capital city? Maybe you’ve hesitated, thinking it may be too expensive? Think again.

You don’t have to pay $300 a night for a hotel room when you can camp out within an easy commute to the National Mall, the White House and the U.S. Capitol in Greenbelt National Park for only $20 a night. All you need is a tent or an RV and you can explore Washington’s national park sites, monuments and Smithsonian museums very inexpensively.
