Be mindful of bears, government warns

(July 16, 2014) -- Provincial government has warned campers to be extra cautious for bears in the area of Saskatchewan. For one, it was too close for comfort when they spotted a bear in near their campsite.

SASKATOON, SK — Amanda Hounjet knows the provincial government’s warning to watch out for bears in Saskatchewan’s campgrounds isn’t an idle one, The Star Phoenix reported.

She and her family spotted a bear near a campsite at Waskesiu on Saturday, according to The Star Phoenix.

“We were coming into our campground and we thought it was a dog at first and then we’re like, ‘No, it’s a bear,’ ” Hounjet told The Star Phoenix. “I was really concerned. If we weren’t in a trailer and we were in a tent, we’d be going home.”
