Airstream owners gather in Ohio for annual Soup Rally

(April 25, 2013) -- More than 30 Airstream units from throughout Ohio will gather at the Greene County Fairgrounds in Xenia today through Sunday for the annual Soup Rally, reports the Xenia Gazette.

XENIA, Ohio — More than 30 Airstream units from throughout Ohio will gather at the Greene County Fairgrounds in Xenia today through Sunday for the annual Soup Rally, reports the Xenia Gazette.

“We’re getting together with a bunch of friends for the first time of the year,” said John “Sonny” Thompson, president of the Cincinnati, Ohio, unit. “We have done this rally at the Greene County Fairgrounds the last 15 years or so. We’re really proud of the fairgrounds, they really treat us nicely.”

The Xenia Gazette writes that the event is called the Soup Rally because of the soup, of course.

“Saturday morning we start cooking a big pot of soup from scratch and then that evening we have soup and salad for dinner,” Sonny said.

Sonny began traveling to Airstream rallies in 1975 and is on his fourth Airstream trailer. He and his wife Mary say they look forward to seeing their friends.
